Kolb, Maclin & Djax are going to shit all over the NFC East

29 07 2010

Today, was a great day. The football itch was in full force. I got the tremendous excitement that is the yearning for football. Obviously it coincides with the start of training camp, and perhaps one of the most exciting preseasons of recent Eagles memory. Donovan McNabb is starting his first preseason with the Washington Redskins. On the other hand, Kevin Kolb is beginning his first season at the helm of the Philadelphia Eagles. Offseason word around the Eagles Novacare Complex is that the young bucks, Desean Jackson and Jermey Maclin are estatic to begin the Kolb Era. Knocks against McNabb were always that he lacked short yard accuracy and touch, but on the other hand Mcnabb threw a great deep ball. Kolb is the opposite, throws the short slants with the accuracy and lead that WR’s dream of, being hitting in stride a step away from top speed and ready to bust a gap for the 80 yard untouched TD.

Jeremy Maclin has been having nightly wetdreams this offseason dreaming of this type of accuracy and relationship with a QB, not a knock on McNabb but Kolb and Maclin show an off the field connection. Now pair this with the best up and coming deep threat potential the league has seen with DeSean Jackson. (See: http://tiny.cc/pnnhi) Desean Jackson sprinkles diamonds in his food because it is the most ballah shit ever! His doodies twinkle, and the NFC East will be seeing a lot of those this year. Teams will be forced to respect the deep ball against Desean leaving the underneath and sidelines available for Jeremy Maclin to have a field day with. It is a perfect combination of WR’s with a QB who knows where and how to find them on a football field.

The thing to keep an eye on statical wise this year while comparing McNabb & Kolb is the YAC (Yards After Catch ladies) category. McNabb put up a lot of yards, but on a lot of deep patterns, Kolb will have a lot of yards but more from the short slant and out pattern variety. The Eagles have one of the tougher schedules in the NFL this year with the NFC East the way it is and the brutal AFC schedule. The defense is potentially shitty or ppotentially average but nothing more. The secondary is flimsy and depending on a rookie and Stewart Bradley coming off knee surgery. One things for certain, the Eagles will be a in a lot of shootouts this season. Lets just hope Maclin or Desean are the last ones scoring. Cowboys suck. Giants suck. Redskins suck.

P.S.

Let’s not boo McNabb during introductions at Lincoln Financial Field in October, he does not deserve it and we should show some class on the national stage and give the man an ovation. That week will be borderline sickening between the Comcast and ESPN slurp fest and I don’t know if I can take it.

Donovan didn’t win the big one, but he gave us a hell of a decade (nearly impossible to block the air guitar out of my head) and a very good but not great career with the Eagles. How ridiculous do we look if we boo the greatest QB in the history of our franchise? Stay classy Philadelphia.
