Expect Michael Kolb to Start at Quarterback This Weekend

13 10 2010

When asked on WIP Radio with Howard Eskin and Ike Reese as to which Eagles QB would be starting this weekend, Reid said “Michael Kolb.”

There is no doubt that Michael Vick wants badly to play against his former team, the Atlanta Falcons when they come to Philadelphia this weekend.  Kevin Kolb looked sharp in a week 5  win over the San Francisco 49ers.  Logic says that Reid should hold Vick out at least another week.  Torn rib cartilage is a painful injury, especially when you’re dodging DE’s constantly because of a shitty offensive line.

If Vick is the QB for the rest of the season as Reid tells us, then why rush him back? But who knows, if Kolb leads to team to a couple straight victories what do the Eagles do? This is why they shouldn’t have benched Kolb from the beginning, players shouldn’t lose their jobs to injury, they should lose their jobs to sucking ass.  Kolb wasn’t even given the chance to suck, that was the problem.  There is no denying Vick’s skills, but IF Kolb plays well, then we have quite the QB controversy on our hands.

This was my issue with naming Vick the starter in Week 2, if Vick struggled then does he lose his job that quickly? Just a strange and historically weird way for Reid to handle the situation.  Made me think that there was pressure from the upper management i.e., Banner & Lurie to make Vick the starter.

But when asked who will be starting this weekend, Reid said “Michael Kolb.” Get your popcorn ready.

Side Notes: Broderick Bunkley may not be lost to season ending elbow surgery.  Rehab may work over surgery and keep him “week to week” as opposed to done for the year.

“Paper Tiger”  Jason Peters will be out indefinitely with a meniscus problem is his knee.  When I first heard this news, I was near positive he tore his labia.  But he had surgery today and is expected to miss a couple weeks.
