Jrue Holiday Is In Germany Supporting US Women’s Soccer

13 07 2011

Because his girlfriend Laura Cheney plays on the team, yes the Lauren Cheney that had a goal and assist today in a win over France.  The two are going to make some super athletic bible thumping babies that’s for sure.

Both Holiday and Cheney stormed the UCLA campus around the same time, Holiday from Indianapolis and Holiday from California.  Both came in as highly touted All American athletes in their respective sports.  Jrue is a tad younger than Cheney, because Holiday became the first NBA player to be born in the 1990’s.  The two appear to have a lot in common aside from both being incredible athletes, the two both seem to be big fans of the Bible and Catholicism.

On both players Twitter pages appear Bible quotes in the “about me” section (@laurencheney8, @Jrue_Holiday11)

Jrue’s Twitter quote is John 15:5…..“I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”

Lauren’s is Chronicles 16:9….“For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. You have done a foolish thing, and from now on you will be at war.”

It’s like the Seinfeld scene, “not that there’s anything wrong with that.”  I’m not going to mock anyone for their religion, but needless to say I was a little surprised to find this out, more from Jrue than Lauren (since I just found out about her last week), well maybe I just didn’t know anything about Jrue really.  I know that he’s a PG on the rise in this league and has gotten significantly better from Year 1 to Year 2.  Pretty cool he’s there in Germany supporting his girlfriend and country, he got to witness sports history last Sunday.

The sleuths over at Busted Coverage broke the case….http://bustedcoverage.com/2011/07/11/sixers-jrue-holiday-and-womens-world-cup-soccer-player-lauren-cheney-may-be-most-wholesome-couple-ever/
